Narrative:

Today is mar/xx/97. The wsi WX machines in sju operations have radar and satellite date in them dated 2 days earlier. Worse yet, people are using this data to plan their flts because they do not check the date/time groups in the bottom corner of the screen. Somebody is going to get hurt. I have written this up in the past. I understand that sju is outside the coverage area for the wsi system and uses a landline to update the data. That in itself is not the problem. Sju operations must -- repeat must -- put in place a system or procedure to monitor currency of this data. If it gets obsolete the data link must be restored immediately or the wsi machines at sju shut off to keep people from using dangerously out of data information for flight planning purposes. Also, the flight department must -- repeat must -- condition crew members to check the date/time information on data before using it to plan their flts. We have gotten too trusting in the system, a possibly fatal move into complacency. Something must, must, must be done.

Title: A300 CAPT COMPLAINT OF OUTDATED WX AND RADAR INFO FOR FLT PLANNING PURPOSES. MANY FLCS ARE NOT CHKING THE DATE OF THE INFO ON THE COMPUTER SCREEN. A LANDLINE IS USED TO UPDATE THIS INFO.

Narrative: TODAY IS MAR/XX/97. THE WSI WX MACHINES IN SJU OPS HAVE RADAR AND SATELLITE DATE IN THEM DATED 2 DAYS EARLIER. WORSE YET, PEOPLE ARE USING THIS DATA TO PLAN THEIR FLTS BECAUSE THEY DO NOT CHK THE DATE/TIME GROUPS IN THE BOTTOM CORNER OF THE SCREEN. SOMEBODY IS GOING TO GET HURT. I HAVE WRITTEN THIS UP IN THE PAST. I UNDERSTAND THAT SJU IS OUTSIDE THE COVERAGE AREA FOR THE WSI SYS AND USES A LANDLINE TO UPDATE THE DATA. THAT IN ITSELF IS NOT THE PROB. SJU OPS MUST -- REPEAT MUST -- PUT IN PLACE A SYS OR PROC TO MONITOR CURRENCY OF THIS DATA. IF IT GETS OBSOLETE THE DATA LINK MUST BE RESTORED IMMEDIATELY OR THE WSI MACHINES AT SJU SHUT OFF TO KEEP PEOPLE FROM USING DANGEROUSLY OUT OF DATA INFO FOR FLT PLANNING PURPOSES. ALSO, THE FLT DEPT MUST -- REPEAT MUST -- CONDITION CREW MEMBERS TO CHK THE DATE/TIME INFO ON DATA BEFORE USING IT TO PLAN THEIR FLTS. WE HAVE GOTTEN TOO TRUSTING IN THE SYS, A POSSIBLY FATAL MOVE INTO COMPLACENCY. SOMETHING MUST, MUST, MUST BE DONE.
