Narrative:

I was on an IFR flight plan from lex to bwg. While approaching bwg, I encountered heavy rain and diverted to the east. Attempt was made, per advice of center at 5000 ft, to proceed to bna in IMC conditions. However, radar indicated strong echoes between me and bna. Radio communication was lost due to approaching electric activity and thunderstorms. I broke out of IMC conditions at glw and proceeded to land with mild to moderate turbulence with approaching thunderstorms. Radio communication re- established at ZME at 4000 ft questioning my altitude. I landed safely and contacted FSS louisville by phone and canceled my flight plan.
