Flew over 8 hours block time (scheduled for 7:29) due to return to gate, headwinds. Flts conducted under part 121 flag operations. Flew again next day, after insufficient rest as per far. Noticed block time over 8 hours after the fact. Crew schedule unaware due to operations submitting incorrect block times. Fatigue and reliance on automation (crew scheduling's computer) were factors.
