Narrative:

We were on a flight to pick up cargo in a da-20. At 13000 ft we first noticed smoke in the cockpit. We returned to ptk after informing approach of the problem. The procedure to clear the smoke worked, and we were met by the fire trucks on landing. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: aircraft was a dassault falcon 20. The cause of the smoke was the previous crew had left the air conditioning temperature selector in full hot. This caused an air conditioning duct overheat condition. Flight crew overlooked this selector switch on preflight check. The reporter was not contacted by the FAA.
