Narrative:

Climb out of atl runway 26L, first officer flying. At 8000 ft rear flight attendant called on interphone and reported smelling smoke. Declared emergency -- returned to atl, first officer flew, captain did checklists and communication with flight attendant on interphone. Smoke smell subsided on approach, landed runway 26L in atl, taxied clear of runway and stopped on taxiway. First officer went to rear of cabin to assess smoke smell level. Found or smelled no smoke. Emergency equipment called off and taxied to gate. Passenger deplaned via front cabin door. No evacuate/evacuation. At no time did pilots see or smell smoke or feel aircraft was in imminent danger.
