Narrative:

Was flying cross country from bmi to bvt VOR. Radio stopped working after takeoff from bmi. Was not able to pick up either rbs VOR or bvt VOR upon takeoff from bmi. Ceiling was about 2300 ft MSL. Became disoriented and was unsure of precise location. With no radio communications and dead reckoning navigation ineffective, I used pilotage to reach bvt VOR. Unfortunately, I was significantly off course from the southwest. It was at this point that I recognized laf class D airport and realized I had entered its airspace. With no functional radio, I left laf airspace and used pilotage to arrive at fkr, in.
