Narrative:

Upon arrival at vrb airport, I reported the airport in sight with ZMA. ZMA said there were several inbound IFR's or aircraft on approachs. I canceled my IFR about 8 mi from the airport. Mia told me to squawk 1200 and contact tower. I called tower and reported 7 mi northwest for landing. I was told to report over the VOR on final for runway 11R. The VOR is approximately 3 mi out. I was then asked my type aircraft by tower. I responded 'a C208.' I reported over the VOR about 1/2 mi early. I was told 'you're cleared to land runway 11R, traffic malibu base turning final.' I said 'looking for traffic, cleared to land runway 11R.' at about a 3/4 mi final, I saw aircraft on the runway and noticed it was a twin engine not a malibu. I quickly asked tower 'where is that malibu traffic for air carrier X (my call sign).' tower responded 'he's right below you, be prepared for a go around!' I responded, ' air carrier X is going around now on the right side of runway 11R.' I quickly advanced the power and pulled out of the landing sequence. Upon breaking off to the right I looked out my left window and saw the malibu directly below me. The malibu also then saw me and made mention of the close call to tower. I went around and came back in for a normal landing.

Title: A C208 AND A PIPER MALIBU HAVE A 200 FT NMAC WHILE ON FINAL APCH AT VRB. TWR POINTED OUT TFC BUT DID NOT CONFIRM ACFT HAD EACH OTHER IN SIGHT. THEY DID NOT. C208 ASKED TWR WHERE THE TFC WAS WHEN HE WAS ON A THREE FOURTH MI FINAL AND TWR SAID HE WAS DIRECTLY BELOW HIM. C208 WENT AROUND.

Narrative: UPON ARR AT VRB ARPT, I RPTED THE ARPT IN SIGHT WITH ZMA. ZMA SAID THERE WERE SEVERAL INBOUND IFR'S OR ACFT ON APCHS. I CANCELED MY IFR ABOUT 8 MI FROM THE ARPT. MIA TOLD ME TO SQUAWK 1200 AND CONTACT TWR. I CALLED TWR AND RPTED 7 MI NW FOR LNDG. I WAS TOLD TO RPT OVER THE VOR ON FINAL FOR RWY 11R. THE VOR IS APPROX 3 MI OUT. I WAS THEN ASKED MY TYPE ACFT BY TWR. I RESPONDED 'A C208.' I RPTED OVER THE VOR ABOUT 1/2 MI EARLY. I WAS TOLD 'YOU'RE CLRED TO LAND RWY 11R, TFC MALIBU BASE TURNING FINAL.' I SAID 'LOOKING FOR TFC, CLRED TO LAND RWY 11R.' AT ABOUT A 3/4 MI FINAL, I SAW ACFT ON THE RWY AND NOTICED IT WAS A TWIN ENG NOT A MALIBU. I QUICKLY ASKED TWR 'WHERE IS THAT MALIBU TFC FOR ACR X (MY CALL SIGN).' TWR RESPONDED 'HE'S RIGHT BELOW YOU, BE PREPARED FOR A GAR!' I RESPONDED, ' ACR X IS GOING AROUND NOW ON THE R SIDE OF RWY 11R.' I QUICKLY ADVANCED THE PWR AND PULLED OUT OF THE LNDG SEQUENCE. UPON BREAKING OFF TO THE R I LOOKED OUT MY L WINDOW AND SAW THE MALIBU DIRECTLY BELOW ME. THE MALIBU ALSO THEN SAW ME AND MADE MENTION OF THE CLOSE CALL TO TWR. I WENT AROUND AND CAME BACK IN FOR A NORMAL LNDG.
