Hts ground cleared flight to runway 12. It was our understanding that we were cleared to the departure end of runway 12. Upon crossing runway 12 at taxiway a, we received a 'cleared to cross' clearance. The controller indicated that we had only been cleared to runway 12 at taxiway a. At no time were we advised to hold short of runway 12 at taxiway a.

Narrative: HTS GND CLRED FLT TO RWY 12. IT WAS OUR UNDERSTANDING THAT WE WERE CLRED TO THE DEP END OF RWY 12. UPON XING RWY 12 AT TXWY A, WE RECEIVED A 'CLRED TO CROSS' CLRNC. THE CTLR INDICATED THAT WE HAD ONLY BEEN CLRED TO RWY 12 AT TXWY A. AT NO TIME WERE WE ADVISED TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 12 AT TXWY A.
