Narrative:

Since being stationed at myr airport I have seen a significant increase in traffic volume, both VFR and air taxi/carrier, myr is the second fastest growing airport in the USA. Since dec 94, when we (management/controllers) started pushing for class C airspace it has been one delay after another. First it was the paperwork we had submitted was wrong, then they needed to work on airspaces being upgraded to class B. We understood the delays, but during this time our traffic continued to increase and therefore the potential for a serious accident increased also. Finally they tell us to wait and on jan/thu/97 we will have our class C. For the last 3-4 months we've been going full steam ahead briefing the flying public and preparing for the new procedures. Then 2 weeks before implementation they pull the plug on it. They say something more important came up. Now our class C is delayed until aug 97 (maybe) for the new publication of charts. Meanwhile, we are facing another summer of increased traffic with VFR aircraft, acrs, air taxi, banner tow, and GA, and all of this traffic can fly directly over our airport at 2600 ft and not talk to ATC. With high performance jet aircraft that climb at 3000 FPM, this makes for some dangerous sits. It is very important to get this class C implemented as soon as possible to avoid these dangerous and possibly fatal sits.
