Narrative:

Shortly our off airport sensors for our LLWAS will be removed due to (declared) budgetary limitations. This (major) airport then will have just 1 ctrfield wind sensor, no way to detect LLWS, no way to detect and advise sector wind directions and velocities, including gust factors. We need help! Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated that they have only the ctrfield wind sensor and that all other sensor equipment has been removed from the tower. Reporter indicated that from what he has heard from airways facilities, the wind sensors themselves have not been removed from the various sites and that only the equipment from the tower was removed. Reporter alleged from what he has heard there are numerous sites that are/will be affected with similar sensor removal. Reporter alleged it is due to real estate costs in the off airport areas where the sensors are located. Reporter indicated that the ctrfield wind sensor takes 2 mins to average the high and low peak gusts before it is reported/displayed in the tower. The other sensors had the information in about 15 seconds.

Title: RPTR CLAIMS THE OFF ARPT SENSORS TO THE LLWAS ARE TO BE REMOVED FOR BUDGETARY LIMITATIONS. THE ARPT WILL HAVE ONLY 1 CTRFIELD SENSOR. NO WAY TO DETECT LLWS OR SECTOR WIND DIRECTION, VELOCITIES.

Narrative: SHORTLY OUR OFF ARPT SENSORS FOR OUR LLWAS WILL BE REMOVED DUE TO (DECLARED) BUDGETARY LIMITATIONS. THIS (MAJOR) ARPT THEN WILL HAVE JUST 1 CTRFIELD WIND SENSOR, NO WAY TO DETECT LLWS, NO WAY TO DETECT AND ADVISE SECTOR WIND DIRECTIONS AND VELOCITIES, INCLUDING GUST FACTORS. WE NEED HELP! CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THAT THEY HAVE ONLY THE CTRFIELD WIND SENSOR AND THAT ALL OTHER SENSOR EQUIP HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THE TWR. RPTR INDICATED THAT FROM WHAT HE HAS HEARD FROM AIRWAYS FACILITIES, THE WIND SENSORS THEMSELVES HAVE NOT BEEN REMOVED FROM THE VARIOUS SITES AND THAT ONLY THE EQUIP FROM THE TWR WAS REMOVED. RPTR ALLEGED FROM WHAT HE HAS HEARD THERE ARE NUMEROUS SITES THAT ARE/WILL BE AFFECTED WITH SIMILAR SENSOR REMOVAL. RPTR ALLEGED IT IS DUE TO REAL ESTATE COSTS IN THE OFF ARPT AREAS WHERE THE SENSORS ARE LOCATED. RPTR INDICATED THAT THE CTRFIELD WIND SENSOR TAKES 2 MINS TO AVERAGE THE HIGH AND LOW PEAK GUSTS BEFORE IT IS RPTED/DISPLAYED IN THE TWR. THE OTHER SENSORS HAD THE INFO IN ABOUT 15 SECONDS.
