Narrative:

ATC facility: dfw approach. Location: final approach runway 35C dfw. Approaching from northeast, landing north. Kept high on downwind and base. Held up at 5000 ft, 200 KTS within 11 mi of the field. Cleared for the visual approach to runway 35C. TCASII target close in off to our left, 500 ft below us. Unable to see traffic, looking directly into the sun to our west. Target moved almost directly below us, slightly to our left and 300 ft below us on TCASII 5 mi scale. We leveled off. TCASII do not descend RA, followed immediately by climb, climb now RA. Initiated climb and go around at approximately 2500 ft AGL, slightly to the east of the runway 35C extended centerline. Returned for a normal approach and landing. While I believe we were informed of traffic on a visual for runway 35L, we never had him in sight and I cannot understand how he ended up that close to us given our altitude and distance from the runway.

Title: TCASII DURING VISUAL APCH. RPTR ACFT HELD HIGH AND FAST, CLRED FOR VISUAL, STEEP DSCNT, HAZY SUN RESTR VISIBILITY AND RPTR DIDN'T SEE INTRUDER WHEN TCASII GAVE AN RA. FLC DID A GAR AND NEVER SAW TFC.

Narrative: ATC FACILITY: DFW APCH. LOCATION: FINAL APCH RWY 35C DFW. APCHING FROM NE, LNDG N. KEPT HIGH ON DOWNWIND AND BASE. HELD UP AT 5000 FT, 200 KTS WITHIN 11 MI OF THE FIELD. CLRED FOR THE VISUAL APCH TO RWY 35C. TCASII TARGET CLOSE IN OFF TO OUR L, 500 FT BELOW US. UNABLE TO SEE TFC, LOOKING DIRECTLY INTO THE SUN TO OUR W. TARGET MOVED ALMOST DIRECTLY BELOW US, SLIGHTLY TO OUR L AND 300 FT BELOW US ON TCASII 5 MI SCALE. WE LEVELED OFF. TCASII DO NOT DSND RA, FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY CLB, CLB NOW RA. INITIATED CLB AND GAR AT APPROX 2500 FT AGL, SLIGHTLY TO THE E OF THE RWY 35C EXTENDED CTRLINE. RETURNED FOR A NORMAL APCH AND LNDG. WHILE I BELIEVE WE WERE INFORMED OF TFC ON A VISUAL FOR RWY 35L, WE NEVER HAD HIM IN SIGHT AND I CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW HE ENDED UP THAT CLOSE TO US GIVEN OUR ALT AND DISTANCE FROM THE RWY.
