Narrative:

On jan 1997, flight from dfw to lax, first officer flying. During climb out, autoplt on IAS, just prior to level off at FL240 and after altitude capture first officer switched to vertical speed, causing altitude capture to drop and aircraft went through FL240. First officer engaged altitude hold, aircraft ballooned about 250 ft high and went back to FL240.
