Narrative:

Nose gear pin left in strut. We discovered it when I called for gear up after takeoff. The crew had plenty of rest and the captain had done the final walkaround. We were not in a hurry so I know it was not that. The reason we left the nose gear pin in was because the plane was parked away from the gate and had to be towed to the gate for passenger boarding. The main gear pins had been removed during the exterior inspection before being towed. After we discovered the nose gear had not retracted we contacted approach and returned for landing. After landing we removed the pin and departed the airport for our destination.
