Narrative:

ATC facility: yyz tower. Location: 1 NM north runway 6R. As we were cleared for takeoff on runway 6R we were informed previous aircraft encountered 20 KT loss at 500-1000 ft AGL on departure. Surface winds were southeast at about 5 KTS. We discussed the situation and decided to depart based on the light surface wind and relatively light load. Also figured this was an isolated encounter and unlikely to be encountered again. 'Wrong' assumption. I decided after rotation to build airspeed as rapidly as possible out of 500 ft just as a precaution. At about 700 ft AGL airspeed dropped from about 165 KTS to about 142 KTS -- a couple of KTS below flap retract speed, almost instantaneously. At the same time we received the 'windshear' warning and I immediately firewalled the throttles. Airspeed stabilized at about 141 KTS and I leveled off at about 900 ft until airspeed increased above flap retract speed, about 7 or 8 seconds. No loss of altitude occurred and shear reported to yyz departure. Next time I will consider opposite direction takeoff.

Title: AT YYZ AFTER RPT OF WINDSHEAR IS GIVEN BY TWR, PIC OF F100 ELECTS TO TAKE OFF. AIRSPD LOSS OCCURS. PIC 'FIREWALLS' THE THROTTLES AND FLIES OUT OF THE WINDSHEAR.

Narrative: ATC FACILITY: YYZ TWR. LOCATION: 1 NM N RWY 6R. AS WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 6R WE WERE INFORMED PREVIOUS ACFT ENCOUNTERED 20 KT LOSS AT 500-1000 FT AGL ON DEP. SURFACE WINDS WERE SE AT ABOUT 5 KTS. WE DISCUSSED THE SIT AND DECIDED TO DEPART BASED ON THE LIGHT SURFACE WIND AND RELATIVELY LIGHT LOAD. ALSO FIGURED THIS WAS AN ISOLATED ENCOUNTER AND UNLIKELY TO BE ENCOUNTERED AGAIN. 'WRONG' ASSUMPTION. I DECIDED AFTER ROTATION TO BUILD AIRSPD AS RAPIDLY AS POSSIBLE OUT OF 500 FT JUST AS A PRECAUTION. AT ABOUT 700 FT AGL AIRSPD DROPPED FROM ABOUT 165 KTS TO ABOUT 142 KTS -- A COUPLE OF KTS BELOW FLAP RETRACT SPD, ALMOST INSTANTANEOUSLY. AT THE SAME TIME WE RECEIVED THE 'WINDSHEAR' WARNING AND I IMMEDIATELY FIREWALLED THE THROTTLES. AIRSPD STABILIZED AT ABOUT 141 KTS AND I LEVELED OFF AT ABOUT 900 FT UNTIL AIRSPD INCREASED ABOVE FLAP RETRACT SPD, ABOUT 7 OR 8 SECONDS. NO LOSS OF ALT OCCURRED AND SHEAR RPTED TO YYZ DEP. NEXT TIME I WILL CONSIDER OPPOSITE DIRECTION TKOF.
