Narrative:

After a night landing bwi, rainy WX, we asked ground if it was ok to taxi from runway 33L and taxiway F to the gate by way of the ramp. This was done to save time due to lack of familiarity with area. Ground advised taxi to gate via ramp a. We taxied uneventfully to the gate except for the fact that we taxied between terminal and the firehouse. Subsequent review showed this act to be prohibited. Lesson learned: do not rely solely on verbal briefings. Review the chart closely beforehand.
