Narrative:

Cleared from 10000 ft to 7000 ft by approach, beginning STAR. At 8500 ft descending, GPWS activated, steady indicating 'too low terrain.' after trying to analyze situation quickly (approximately 5 seconds) hand flew aircraft back to 10000 ft while advising approach. They advised no traffic conflict and confirmed our position as correct. Subsequent descent and approach to kix normal. GPWS stopped during climb through 9000 ft to 9500 ft. Do not believe any ice was on fuselage. Other information: this was a false warning and was written up in maintenance log as such. Very disconcerting.
