In sum: as a system aircraft maintenance controller, the reporter authority/authorized the MEL deferral of the #1 main fuel quantity indicator. Later, the deferral of the center tank fuel quantity system was authority/authorized. The B737-300 MEL allows both to be deferred, but under the specifications for #1 fuel quantity indication, item C states the center tank fuel quantity indication must operate normally. The MEL specifications for the center tank fuel quantity system does not have this stated limit. The aircraft flew to XXX where it was removed from service for repair.

Title: A B737-300 WAS DISPATCHED WITH #1 MAIN FUEL QUANTITY SYS AND CTR TANK FUEL QUANTITY SYS INOP AND DEFERRED.

Narrative: IN SUM: AS A SYS ACFT MAINT CTLR, THE RPTR AUTH THE MEL DEFERRAL OF THE #1 MAIN FUEL QUANTITY INDICATOR. LATER, THE DEFERRAL OF THE CTR TANK FUEL QUANTITY SYS WAS AUTH. THE B737-300 MEL ALLOWS BOTH TO BE DEFERRED, BUT UNDER THE SPECS FOR #1 FUEL QUANTITY INDICATION, ITEM C STATES THE CTR TANK FUEL QUANTITY INDICATION MUST OPERATE NORMALLY. THE MEL SPECS FOR THE CTR TANK FUEL QUANTITY SYS DOES NOT HAVE THIS STATED LIMIT. THE ACFT FLEW TO XXX WHERE IT WAS REMOVED FROM SVC FOR REPAIR.
