Narrative:

Departed sjc with clearance of altam 6 departure linden transition. We were to maintain 250 KTS till advised. After reaching 4000 ft we were given a heading of 310 degrees to intercept the 004 degree radial off sjc. We inadvertently accelerated after passing 10000 ft and the center controller asked us to verify our speed restr. We had passed 290-300 KTS at the time. We slowed back to 250 KTS and were given a 20 degree heading change so as not to overtake some other traffic that was along our route of flight at a slower climb rate. No other problems ensued.

Title: WDB FREIGHTER TOLD TO MAINTAIN 250 KTS UNTIL FURTHER ADVISED BUT ACCELERATED TO 290 KTS LEAVING 10000 FT.

Narrative: DEPARTED SJC WITH CLRNC OF ALTAM 6 DEP LINDEN TRANSITION. WE WERE TO MAINTAIN 250 KTS TILL ADVISED. AFTER REACHING 4000 FT WE WERE GIVEN A HDG OF 310 DEGS TO INTERCEPT THE 004 DEG RADIAL OFF SJC. WE INADVERTENTLY ACCELERATED AFTER PASSING 10000 FT AND THE CTR CTLR ASKED US TO VERIFY OUR SPD RESTR. WE HAD PASSED 290-300 KTS AT THE TIME. WE SLOWED BACK TO 250 KTS AND WERE GIVEN A 20 DEG HDG CHANGE SO AS NOT TO OVERTAKE SOME OTHER TFC THAT WAS ALONG OUR RTE OF FLT AT A SLOWER CLB RATE. NO OTHER PROBS ENSUED.
