Narrative:

As requested by an instructor, I reviewed his student's preflight planning and preparation according to far 61.93(D)(2)(I) and endorsed her logbook to make the solo cross country flight under the known circumstances from sjc to sjc via mod and lsn. I called FSS and checked the current conditions and forecast. The WX report was within the limitations of her logbook. During her landing back at sjc, she had a hard landing that resulted in the nosewheel gear collapse. After talking to her, she informed me that the approach, flare, and airspeed were all under control. However, during touchdown, she lost aircraft control and collapsed nose gear of the C152. Probable causes of incident were: distraction, inappropriate landing technique, and student being tired after doing flight planning preparation, and the actual flight. Incident could be avoided if student had initiated a go around and attempted the landing in better conditions.

DURING HER LNDG BACK AT SJC, SHE HAD A HARD LNDG THAT RESULTED IN THE NOSEWHEEL GEAR COLLAPSE. AFTER TALKING TO HER, SHE INFORMED ME THAT THE APCH, FLARE, AND AIRSPD WERE ALL UNDER CTL. HOWEVER, DURING TOUCHDOWN, SHE LOST ACFT CTL AND COLLAPSED NOSE GEAR OF THE C152.
