Narrative:

As we approached gate at bos, both the first officer and I cleared the gate area. There was a full gate crew with lighted wands present at the gate. The guideman waved us in to a point on centerline, about 2 ft short of the stop line. He stopped us and looked at something in the area of the left wingtip. He then resumed guiding us in, stopped us on the stop line, and gave the normal stop and chocks in return. We completed the parking checklist, as the passenger deplaned. After about 1/2 of the passenger had deplaned, a ramp worker arrived and said that there was a fuel leak, and to get the passenger off the plane, which we did. A few mins later, fire personnel arrived on the jet bridge and stated that a fuel truck was jammed under our wing. We shut down the APU and went down to the ramp to investigate. The fueling truck was struck on the cabin attendant roof by the strake on the leading edge of the right wing. I was told by boston ramp service manager that the fueler had driven up to the wing as I stopped short of the stop line, and that the aircraft struck the truck as we came forward the last 2 ft. At no time was the fuel truck visible from the cockpit, and at no time did the guideman indicate that there was any obstruction in the gate area. The guideman's concern seemed to be with events on the side of the aircraft away from the fueling truck.
