Narrative:

I got my paperwork for flight AC and the pre departure clearance was for flight ab. The pre departure clearance was given to me in error. It was for the last flight to the same destination. Because of this problem with the pre departure clearance I got taxi instructions under flight ab when I was really flight AC. When in the taxi phase, ground told me of the wrong flight number and told me to go to clearance delivery for my departure clearance. Ground did not tell me to stop the taxi so I continued to taxi while my first officer went to clearance delivery on the other radio to get the new clearance. As I came upon a taxiway perpendicular to the one I was on another aircraft was coming. I stopped because that aircraft did not appear to be stopping, but it did. Ground control told me to taxi to runway 5L short of runway 5R on taxiway north so I followed those instructions under flight number ab. When I came upon the other aircraft on the other taxiway, we both stopped because we did not know which aircraft had the right-of-way to runway 5R short of runway 5L on taxiway north. We had both been cleared to taxi to the runway. Ground control told me that I did not receive taxi clearance under flight number AC when in reality I received taxi clearance under flight ab. Ground did not tell me to stop when he found out that my flight number was not ab but AC. To help prevent this problem in the future, cle clearance delivery should require pilots on IFR flts to verify flight number and verify transponder code. Pilots such as myself who do up to 9 legs per day must check that the pre departure clearance and flight advisory message match.

Title: CALL SIGN CONFUSION WHEN BE02 FLC RECEIVE PDC FOR PREVIOUS FLT AND ATTEMPT TO TAXI WITH OLD FLT NUMBER WHILE RECEIVING A REVISED CLRNC UNDER THE NEW FLT NUMBER.

Narrative: I GOT MY PAPERWORK FOR FLT AC AND THE PDC WAS FOR FLT AB. THE PDC WAS GIVEN TO ME IN ERROR. IT WAS FOR THE LAST FLT TO THE SAME DEST. BECAUSE OF THIS PROB WITH THE PDC I GOT TAXI INSTRUCTIONS UNDER FLT AB WHEN I WAS REALLY FLT AC. WHEN IN THE TAXI PHASE, GND TOLD ME OF THE WRONG FLT NUMBER AND TOLD ME TO GO TO CLRNC DELIVERY FOR MY DEP CLRNC. GND DID NOT TELL ME TO STOP THE TAXI SO I CONTINUED TO TAXI WHILE MY FO WENT TO CLRNC DELIVERY ON THE OTHER RADIO TO GET THE NEW CLRNC. AS I CAME UPON A TXWY PERPENDICULAR TO THE ONE I WAS ON ANOTHER ACFT WAS COMING. I STOPPED BECAUSE THAT ACFT DID NOT APPEAR TO BE STOPPING, BUT IT DID. GND CTL TOLD ME TO TAXI TO RWY 5L SHORT OF RWY 5R ON TXWY N SO I FOLLOWED THOSE INSTRUCTIONS UNDER FLT NUMBER AB. WHEN I CAME UPON THE OTHER ACFT ON THE OTHER TXWY, WE BOTH STOPPED BECAUSE WE DID NOT KNOW WHICH ACFT HAD THE RIGHT-OF-WAY TO RWY 5R SHORT OF RWY 5L ON TXWY N. WE HAD BOTH BEEN CLRED TO TAXI TO THE RWY. GND CTL TOLD ME THAT I DID NOT RECEIVE TAXI CLRNC UNDER FLT NUMBER AC WHEN IN REALITY I RECEIVED TAXI CLRNC UNDER FLT AB. GND DID NOT TELL ME TO STOP WHEN HE FOUND OUT THAT MY FLT NUMBER WAS NOT AB BUT AC. TO HELP PREVENT THIS PROB IN THE FUTURE, CLE CLRNC DELIVERY SHOULD REQUIRE PLTS ON IFR FLTS TO VERIFY FLT NUMBER AND VERIFY XPONDER CODE. PLTS SUCH AS MYSELF WHO DO UP TO 9 LEGS PER DAY MUST CHK THAT THE PDC AND FLT ADVISORY MESSAGE MATCH.
