Narrative:

Changed RNAV to accommodate rerte. Taxied out for takeoff. Just prior to taking runway for takeoff, ground advised ATC rerte. Called clearance. Changed route back to slc 094 degree radial mtu 303-mtu-hbu. Tower cleared us into position on runway 34R to hold as I was reprogramming RNAV for changed route (again) placed departure control frequency in VHF to prepare for takeoff clearance and get back to RNAV to finish. Pretty sure I responded 'position and hold on runway 34R' on 119.05 (tower) frequency as we went into position. Finished programming as we lined up on runway, nobody was talking, other pilot after about 30-45 seconds said 'oh no, we're on departure frequency!' and we were on 135.5! I must have inadvertently caught heel of my hand on frequency switch as we went into position. Called tower immediately and controller was hot. Said he tried to call us 5 or 6 times, that we caused a go around on him. I said we did acknowledge 'position and hold.' he said no we didn't and then quite confrontationally said 'if you want me to pull the tapes, I will.' we said 'not necessary.' accepted our takeoff clearance and left slc. It was most unfortunate for all parties involved but I guess everything turned out ok. Supplemental information from acn 353330: I suspect that the line check airman had switched the radio to an incorrect frequency just after I answered and complied with the clearance to taxi in position and hold. The problem was contributed to by the fact that we received 2 amended clrncs, the last just prior to takeoff. Each time we had to return to clearance delivery frequency. Supplemental information from acn 353326: this situation could have been avoided by not having to change our clearance 3 times in a matter of 10 mins. The last change occurred as we were preparing our aircraft for the takeoff roll.

Title: ACR B727 OCCUPIES RWY AND IS IN POS TOO LONG AS FLC HAD INADVERTENTLY SELECTED DEP CTL FREQ ON VHF. 1 ACFT HAD TO PERFORM A MISSED APCH. RPTRS CITE 3 AMENDED CLRNCS RTE CHANGES WHILE TAXIING AS CAUSAL.

Narrative: CHANGED RNAV TO ACCOMMODATE RERTE. TAXIED OUT FOR TKOF. JUST PRIOR TO TAKING RWY FOR TKOF, GND ADVISED ATC RERTE. CALLED CLRNC. CHANGED RTE BACK TO SLC 094 DEG RADIAL MTU 303-MTU-HBU. TWR CLRED US INTO POS ON RWY 34R TO HOLD AS I WAS REPROGRAMMING RNAV FOR CHANGED RTE (AGAIN) PLACED DEP CTL FREQ IN VHF TO PREPARE FOR TKOF CLRNC AND GET BACK TO RNAV TO FINISH. PRETTY SURE I RESPONDED 'POS AND HOLD ON RWY 34R' ON 119.05 (TWR) FREQ AS WE WENT INTO POS. FINISHED PROGRAMMING AS WE LINED UP ON RWY, NOBODY WAS TALKING, OTHER PLT AFTER ABOUT 30-45 SECONDS SAID 'OH NO, WE'RE ON DEP FREQ!' AND WE WERE ON 135.5! I MUST HAVE INADVERTENTLY CAUGHT HEEL OF MY HAND ON FREQ SWITCH AS WE WENT INTO POS. CALLED TWR IMMEDIATELY AND CTLR WAS HOT. SAID HE TRIED TO CALL US 5 OR 6 TIMES, THAT WE CAUSED A GAR ON HIM. I SAID WE DID ACKNOWLEDGE 'POS AND HOLD.' HE SAID NO WE DIDN'T AND THEN QUITE CONFRONTATIONALLY SAID 'IF YOU WANT ME TO PULL THE TAPES, I WILL.' WE SAID 'NOT NECESSARY.' ACCEPTED OUR TKOF CLRNC AND LEFT SLC. IT WAS MOST UNFORTUNATE FOR ALL PARTIES INVOLVED BUT I GUESS EVERYTHING TURNED OUT OK. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 353330: I SUSPECT THAT THE LINE CHK AIRMAN HAD SWITCHED THE RADIO TO AN INCORRECT FREQ JUST AFTER I ANSWERED AND COMPLIED WITH THE CLRNC TO TAXI IN POS AND HOLD. THE PROB WAS CONTRIBUTED TO BY THE FACT THAT WE RECEIVED 2 AMENDED CLRNCS, THE LAST JUST PRIOR TO TKOF. EACH TIME WE HAD TO RETURN TO CLRNC DELIVERY FREQ. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 353326: THIS SIT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED BY NOT HAVING TO CHANGE OUR CLRNC 3 TIMES IN A MATTER OF 10 MINS. THE LAST CHANGE OCCURRED AS WE WERE PREPARING OUR ACFT FOR THE TKOF ROLL.
