Narrative:

East of wink and west of tuscola, approached a large frontal boundary at FL330, 250 KIAS, first officer flying. Appeared to be above all precipitation and lightning. Encountered moderate turbulence and initiated a climb for smooth air. Airspeed decayed, more power applied. Unable to climb, began to descend with airspeed still decaying. Maximum power, firewall, applied to preclude sinking into worse turbulence. Sporadic stall and engine surges evident. Descended to FL290, speed increased, power reduced, all engine indications normal. Landed at iah. Wrote up both engines.
