Narrative:

Controller asked if we saw an island off the right side. SID calls for tracking the 338 degree radial northbound and to cross 8 DME at or above 4000 ft then right turn to 070 degree heading. When the controller called the island off the right we were at 8.8 DME in the right turn to heading 070 degrees out of 5500 ft MSL. When the first officer called the island in sight the controller replied that we were not supposed to be over that island. I assume he was talking about a noise abatement problem and that we had violated the procedure on the departure. According to all of our indications, we were exactly where we were supposed to be. Even the right turn to 070 degrees was at a slower rate to assure that we were in total compliance. I am curious as to what the controller meant when he said we were not supposed to be over the island.

Title: MD80, SUPER 80 CLBED ON THE WRONG RADIAL ON THE SID.

Narrative: CTLR ASKED IF WE SAW AN ISLAND OFF THE R SIDE. SID CALLS FOR TRACKING THE 338 DEG RADIAL NBOUND AND TO CROSS 8 DME AT OR ABOVE 4000 FT THEN R TURN TO 070 DEG HDG. WHEN THE CTLR CALLED THE ISLAND OFF THE R WE WERE AT 8.8 DME IN THE R TURN TO HDG 070 DEGS OUT OF 5500 FT MSL. WHEN THE FO CALLED THE ISLAND IN SIGHT THE CTLR REPLIED THAT WE WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE OVER THAT ISLAND. I ASSUME HE WAS TALKING ABOUT A NOISE ABATEMENT PROB AND THAT WE HAD VIOLATED THE PROC ON THE DEP. ACCORDING TO ALL OF OUR INDICATIONS, WE WERE EXACTLY WHERE WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE. EVEN THE R TURN TO 070 DEGS WAS AT A SLOWER RATE TO ASSURE THAT WE WERE IN TOTAL COMPLIANCE. I AM CURIOUS AS TO WHAT THE CTLR MEANT WHEN HE SAID WE WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE OVER THE ISLAND.
