Narrative:

6 mins prior to the issuance of an ASOS automated WX report the ASOS system froze-up due to a line noise problem which intermittently creates this situation. This condition has existed since the first day of initial installation of the ASOS at casper and has never been fixed despite repeated attempts. If this condition and others which exist with the casper ASOS equipment are allowed to continue, sooner or later a severe safety-related problem could arise by the issuance of old or erroneous WX data to an aircraft because the ASOS screen was not operating properly.
