Narrative:

Discussion of the STAR that was instructed to be followed, the crew didn't discuss the speed restr of 250 KTS over the final VOR on the STAR. As we turned to the northeast we changed controllers, and were asked our current indicated airspeed was 250 KTS. At that time we were instructed to fly on a 70 degree heading and reduce speed to 220 KTS. This incident could have been avoided if CRM were followed. The proper briefing by both the PF and PNF could avoid any mishap in the future. As the FAA has encouraged CRM classes, further encouragement would aid all pilots in and out of the cockpit. I know I am a believer in the class now that I have seen where it will aid me in my future flying.
