Narrative:
Condition is ongoing. Several sectors at bay TRACON share a voice hotline to local one control position at oakland tower. Approximately 2-3 months ago, several controllers complained of a dangerously loud squeal on the line when more than 2 controllers punched into the line at the same time. As a temporary remedy, management instructed only 1 sector may use the line, then others must use a dial line. Sometimes that line is already in use and we have to break in -- at all times, it takes 5 to 30 seconds to complete the call. This is awkward at best and potentially dangerous. I feel that 2 months is more than enough time to remedy this situation.
