Narrative:

Flying in light chop turbulence in IMC experienced loss of 2- way radio communications. Attempted to transmit on 128.6 assigned center frequency and 121.5 with transponder set to 7600. Broadcast intentions (declared emergency, however no facility received due to inability to transmit) to turn 90 degrees from V38 for 2 mins, then descend in IMC/VMC marginal in and out of clouds to VMC below 6000 ft AGL (approximately 9000 ft MSL) for continued VMC flight to randolph county airport for precautionary landing. Attempted to obtain aas unicom information - - no reply. Uneventful landing and taxi to parking. Notified FSS on field via telephone of safe landing and situation. Local mechanic found radio stack audio panel slightly loose in rack. Upon removal, inspection, and reinstallation communications were restored.
