Narrative:

Multiple vectors and speed changes throughout flight, sequencing into dtw. Descent from FL270 to FL230. Some misunderstanding occurred about airspeed assignment. ATC inquired about airspeed (250-260 KTS). ATC requested a descent from FL230 to FL220 and increase airspeed to 310 KTS. ATC never commented on airspeed after that. Apparently no conflict occurred. Supplemental information from acn 347516: the captain (PNF) reminded the first officer (PF) that the speed should have been 310 KTS or more. The first officer had misunderstood the correct speed and thought it to be 220 KTS when clearance was given.

Title: ACR ON POLAR STAR INTO DTW. FO, PF, MISUNDERSTOOD CLRNC TO MAINTAIN 310 KIAS ON DSCNT. CTLR QUERIED AIRSPD AND CLRED THE FLT TO CONTINUE DSCNT TO FL220 AND INCREASE AIRSPD TO FL310. NO CONFLICT RESULTED FROM DEV.

ATC INQUIRED ABOUT AIRSPD (250-260 KTS). ATC REQUESTED A DSCNT FROM FL230 TO FL220 AND INCREASE AIRSPD TO 310 KTS. ATC NEVER COMMENTED ON AIRSPD AFTER THAT. APPARENTLY NO CONFLICT OCCURRED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 347516: THE CAPT (PNF) REMINDED THE FO (PF) THAT THE SPD SHOULD HAVE BEEN 310 KTS OR MORE. THE FO HAD MISUNDERSTOOD THE CORRECT SPD AND THOUGHT IT TO BE 220 KTS WHEN CLRNC WAS GIVEN.
