Narrative:

Captain was flying, given sunss intersection at 11000 ft and were given 250 KTS earlier. At about 12000-13000 ft, I checked rate of descent and it looked like we would make it (captain increased airspeed, without telling ATC, to about 280 KTS). A handoff was given to phx approach. I called phx approach and told them we were leveling at 11000 ft. I noticed we were about 28 DME and 300 ft to go. (Sunss intersection 31 DME). We were going around thunderstorms just prior.
