Clearance delivery gave us a new route as per our request. The new route was pit direct jst V12 ptw V143 ard V276 rbu direct col jfk. Old route was pit ton V35 psb V58 fqm V576 dny pauling arrival, jfk. New route requested to save time for passenger with international connection in jfk. Clearance was accepted by ATC when ZOB handed us to ny. Ny requested us to fly direct to dny and pauling arrival. I said 'it's crazy to fly 90 mi north of jfk just to turn around at dny to fly back to jfk.' the controller got upset but gave us a new clearance via direct luz lendy arrival to jfk. Center called our company. Company yelled at me. Sorry! Won't ever ask for a short cut to help out a passenger or to help company save time and fuel. I was wrong in not coordinating with our flight control first.

I SAID 'IT'S CRAZY TO FLY 90 MI N OF JFK JUST TO TURN AROUND AT DNY TO FLY BACK TO JFK.' THE CTLR GOT UPSET BUT GAVE US A NEW CLRNC VIA DIRECT LUZ LENDY ARR TO JFK. CTR CALLED OUR COMPANY. COMPANY YELLED AT ME. SORRY! WON'T EVER ASK FOR A SHORT CUT TO HELP OUT A PAX OR TO HELP COMPANY SAVE TIME AND FUEL. I WAS WRONG IN NOT COORDINATING WITH OUR FLT CTL FIRST.
