Narrative:

Made approach to dma in night VFR WX. Rushed ourselves to expedite on deck due to an aircraft with an emergency in the area. Took early visual and, although appropriate ILS, etc, tuned, didn't note our error till on final when localizer and GS didn't compute. Initiated go around just as tower noted our error too. Lessons learned: don't rush for any reason, shoot the entire ILS to preclude this kind of error in future. Supplemental information from acn 345610: add my name to the dummies that have lined up to dma on a visual approach to tus. ATC in no way pressured us in this in any way, I did this to myself. Saw VASI I expected to see, should have checked for parallel runway at tus. I noticed the AFB ramp was full of A10's and not the F16's when we started the go around. I was a little too comfortable, complacent, talked to tus tower supervisor who had called the AFB supervisor. No action would be taken on their part.
