Narrative:

I asked captain for outbound course from bff direct dupree VOR. He consulted his en route charts and said '035.' I turned 050 degree heading to intercept this radial. The center controller told me to turn 30 degrees left for traffic and asked what my on course heading was. I replied '035.' she said turn left heading 005 degrees and proceed direct dupree when able. I did so. Fos' at my air carrier are not given en route charts or approach plates. This is a dangerous problem.
