Narrative:

Saw WX ahead and on airway, requested 20 mi east of course for WX avoidance from ny commercial radio on HF. At this point we were 80 mi north of WX sbound. After the 80 mi had past I exercised captain's emergency authority/authorized and avoided WX by deviating 20 mi east of course and advised ny commercial radio. As we were completing deviation and returning to course, ny commercial radio contacted us to advise we were cleared as requested.
