Narrative:

Approaching 'boney' intersection en route to hkg from sfo, flight requested to deviate off course 40 NM for level 4 thunderstorm. A timely response from naha control was not received. We followed fom guidance on WX deviation. We declared WX deviation emergency, broadcast in blind on 121.5, set code 7700, descended 1000 ft, monitored TCASII, turned on all exterior lights and flew 50 NM north of boney to circumnav thunderstorm. Once clear, proceeded direct hnc, reacquired tpe control and climbed back to FL390 on course.
