Narrative:

Cessna 182RG was on IFR flight plan between laf and 6RO. Aircraft had multiple WX briefings en route, last of which indicated thunderstorms approaching slidell to arrive approximately 15 mins after ETA. Aircraft completed the VOR approach to runway 18 coming out of clouds at approximately 1200 ft. Aircraft entered base to final for runway 18. At the beginning of flare for touchdown, aircraft had a sudden change in performance inducing a high sink rate. Attempt to arrest this sink rate was unsuccessful and aircraft touched down hard. Aircraft bounced and was brought to a stop on runway. All occupants exited aircraft uninjured. Flight service station was immediately contacted, as other aircraft were holding for same approach. Examination of aircraft showed tire flat and wheel absent from front landing gear. Probable cause of accident, windshear causing sudden decrease in performance. Subsequent hard landing caused wheel to break and airplane stopped on gear fork.

Title: HARD LNDG IN C182RG DISLODGES NOSEWHEEL. ACFT DAMAGED ABANDONED, PAX DEPLANED. TRYING TO BEAT THE TSTM IN TO THE FIELD.

Narrative: CESSNA 182RG WAS ON IFR FLT PLAN BTWN LAF AND 6RO. ACFT HAD MULTIPLE WX BRIEFINGS ENRTE, LAST OF WHICH INDICATED TSTMS APCHING SLIDELL TO ARRIVE APPROX 15 MINS AFTER ETA. ACFT COMPLETED THE VOR APCH TO RWY 18 COMING OUT OF CLOUDS AT APPROX 1200 FT. ACFT ENTERED BASE TO FINAL FOR RWY 18. AT THE BEGINNING OF FLARE FOR TOUCHDOWN, ACFT HAD A SUDDEN CHANGE IN PERFORMANCE INDUCING A HIGH SINK RATE. ATTEMPT TO ARREST THIS SINK RATE WAS UNSUCCESSFUL AND ACFT TOUCHED DOWN HARD. ACFT BOUNCED AND WAS BROUGHT TO A STOP ON RWY. ALL OCCUPANTS EXITED ACFT UNINJURED. FLT SVC STATION WAS IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED, AS OTHER ACFT WERE HOLDING FOR SAME APCH. EXAMINATION OF ACFT SHOWED TIRE FLAT AND WHEEL ABSENT FROM FRONT LNDG GEAR. PROBABLE CAUSE OF ACCIDENT, WINDSHEAR CAUSING SUDDEN DECREASE IN PERFORMANCE. SUBSEQUENT HARD LNDG CAUSED WHEEL TO BREAK AND AIRPLANE STOPPED ON GEAR FORK.
