Narrative:

I was cleared to climb to 4000 ft. While I climbed I was thinking about something that had happened earlier that day. I failed to level off at 4000 ft and finally caught my mistake at 4700 ft. I immediately descended back to 4000 ft. Departure control never said anything and I didn't hear anybody else talking in my vicinity. I guess I was lucky this time. But this shows, if there is, or was a problem on the job, or privately, you can't take it with you in the airplane. It can impair a person's alertness and cause problems in flying. Leave everything on the ground and keep your mind free and alert for the present task!
