Narrative:

Encountered radio failure (could receive but not transmit) upon attempt to contact tower. After establishing communications and position location through aircraft in area was cleared to land. During checklist procedures encountered no nose gear down and locked indicator light and gear unsafe light with gear motor running continuously. Shut off master switch and repositioned gear lever in up position then turned on master switch. Gear retraction occurred. All necessary lights turned off and gear motor ceased operation. Lowered gear lever and landing gear extended normally with gear motor operating properly. Gear unsafe light was no longer illuminated and main gear down and locked indicators illuminated. Still no nose gear light illuminated. Switched main gear indicator bulb with nose gear indicator bulb and still had no illumination from nose gear indicator. Tower assumed gear problem when initial landing was aborted and notified me gear appeared down and locked and cleared me for landing once again. Made decision to land and 200 ft AGL applied mixture cutoff to stop engine with propeller in horizontal position to avoid extensive damage if nose gear failed. Propeller stopped turning on landing rollout and once horizontal I allowed nose gear to contact ground. Nose gear did not fail and I rolled off at taxiway B after landing runway 8 at jnu. Restarted engine after clearing runway and was cleared to taxi to ramp by ground frequency. Notified company of situation and described problem to maintenance personnel. Nose gear light was found to be defective (bulb) and radio hand microphone also found to be working intermittently. Gear system was analyzed and found to be operating properly after necessary repairs were accomplished.

Title: PA32 PLT HAS RADIO PROB, CAN RECEIVE BUT NOT XMIT. THEN GEAR PROB WHEN NOSE GEAR LIGHT WILL NOT ACTIVATE INDICATING GEAR DOWN.

Narrative: ENCOUNTERED RADIO FAILURE (COULD RECEIVE BUT NOT XMIT) UPON ATTEMPT TO CONTACT TWR. AFTER ESTABLISHING COMS AND POS LOCATION THROUGH ACFT IN AREA WAS CLRED TO LAND. DURING CHKLIST PROCS ENCOUNTERED NO NOSE GEAR DOWN AND LOCKED INDICATOR LIGHT AND GEAR UNSAFE LIGHT WITH GEAR MOTOR RUNNING CONTINUOUSLY. SHUT OFF MASTER SWITCH AND REPOSITIONED GEAR LEVER IN UP POS THEN TURNED ON MASTER SWITCH. GEAR RETRACTION OCCURRED. ALL NECESSARY LIGHTS TURNED OFF AND GEAR MOTOR CEASED OP. LOWERED GEAR LEVER AND LNDG GEAR EXTENDED NORMALLY WITH GEAR MOTOR OPERATING PROPERLY. TWR ASSUMED GEAR PROB WHEN INITIAL LNDG WAS ABORTED AND NOTIFIED ME GEAR APPEARED DOWN AND LOCKED AND CLRED ME FOR LNDG ONCE AGAIN. MADE DECISION TO LAND AND 200 FT AGL APPLIED MIXTURE CUTOFF TO STOP ENG WITH PROP IN HORIZ POS TO AVOID EXTENSIVE DAMAGE IF NOSE GEAR FAILED. PROP STOPPED TURNING ON LNDG ROLLOUT AND ONCE HORIZ I ALLOWED NOSE GEAR TO CONTACT GND. NOSE GEAR DID NOT FAIL AND I ROLLED OFF AT TXWY B AFTER LNDG RWY 8 AT JNU. RESTARTED ENG AFTER CLRING RWY AND WAS CLRED TO TAXI TO RAMP BY GND FREQ. NOTIFIED COMPANY OF SIT AND DESCRIBED PROB TO MAINT PERSONNEL. NOSE GEAR LIGHT WAS FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE (BULB) AND RADIO HAND MIKE ALSO FOUND TO BE WORKING INTERMITTENTLY. GEAR SYS WAS ANALYZED AND FOUND TO BE OPERATING PROPERLY AFTER NECESSARY REPAIRS WERE ACCOMPLISHED.
