Narrative:

Came into work at XA00 local to work tower position. The ASOS was indicating 9 SM visibility. Unfortunately, there was only 1/2 mi visibility. We put this on the ASOS which changes the rptable visibility. The WX service had to be called to get an obscuration to go with the new visibility. The ASOS did not keep up until about 3 hours later. Each time WX (NWS) had to be asked to add an obscuration.
