Narrative:

Jul/xx/96, approximately XX10 am, landing runway 22L at ewr there seemed to be some confusion in obtaining a landing clearance. At approximately 1000 ft AGL I asked captain (PNF) if we were cleared to land. He said yes. I wasn't convinced and asked again at approximately 500 ft AGL. He again said 'yes, land the airplane!' the runway was clear and at no time was the safety of flight in jeopardy. We exited runway 22L and held short of runway 22R. I told tower we were holding short of runway 22R. Tower controller seemed very confused and asked 'where are you holding short?' this increased my fear that we may not have had a landing clearance. Reasons and or contributions to problem: 1) tower controller's increased workload acting as ground controller in getting traffic across runway 22R and onto and off of runway 29. 2) poor CRM on part of captain giving orders instead of working as a team.

Title: QUESTIONABLE LNDG CLRNC. RPTR DOESN'T SAY IF THEY DID OR DID NOT HAVE CLRNC TO LAND, BUT THEY LANDED AND APPARENTLY NOTHING WAS SAID. EXCEPT TWR ASKED THEM THEIR POS WHEN THEY CALLED ON THE GND. BUT, AT AN ARPT LIKE EWR THAT WOULDN'T BE UNUSUAL.

Narrative: JUL/XX/96, APPROX XX10 AM, LNDG RWY 22L AT EWR THERE SEEMED TO BE SOME CONFUSION IN OBTAINING A LNDG CLRNC. AT APPROX 1000 FT AGL I ASKED CAPT (PNF) IF WE WERE CLRED TO LAND. HE SAID YES. I WASN'T CONVINCED AND ASKED AGAIN AT APPROX 500 FT AGL. HE AGAIN SAID 'YES, LAND THE AIRPLANE!' THE RWY WAS CLR AND AT NO TIME WAS THE SAFETY OF FLT IN JEOPARDY. WE EXITED RWY 22L AND HELD SHORT OF RWY 22R. I TOLD TWR WE WERE HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 22R. TWR CTLR SEEMED VERY CONFUSED AND ASKED 'WHERE ARE YOU HOLDING SHORT?' THIS INCREASED MY FEAR THAT WE MAY NOT HAVE HAD A LNDG CLRNC. REASONS AND OR CONTRIBUTIONS TO PROB: 1) TWR CTLR'S INCREASED WORKLOAD ACTING AS GND CTLR IN GETTING TFC ACROSS RWY 22R AND ONTO AND OFF OF RWY 29. 2) POOR CRM ON PART OF CAPT GIVING ORDERS INSTEAD OF WORKING AS A TEAM.
