Narrative:

My student in training for private license had completed a cross country that terminated in a bad crosswind landing. We took off again so we could learn more about crosswind lndgs. Tower requested we report left base. I was instructing and we both forgot to report left base and we proceeded to land without clearance. Tower asked if we had forgotten something and we immediately recognized the mistake. No other traffic was affected. I, the instructor, was too immersed in instructing. My fault totally. I had instructed only 3 hours that day but had missed lunch because of a walk-in 'discovery' flight. It was just a memory lapse, I guess. First time in 30 yrs of flying.
