Narrative:

When we received our clearance the required readback consisted only of our number and transponder code. After departure the controller gave us a few heading changes and then a heading to intercept the transition. If he changed the transition from the panther 3-MERIL transition (filed and cleared) to the panther 3-LILLS transition, we did not either hear or comprehend (we had a mindset for the panther 3-MERIL). When we realized that what we thought was the assigned heading would not intercept the meril transition we assumed the heading he wanted was 45 degrees rather than a 45 degree intercept. We should have questioned departure when we realized our heading would not intercept the meril transition.

Title: A LR60 FLC CONTINUED THROUGH THE RADIAL THAT THEY WERE ASSIGNED TO INTERCEPT WHILE FLYING A SID TRANSITION. THE FLC MISUNDERSTOOD WHAT THE ACTUAL ASSIGNED TRANSITION WAS, AND ALTERED THEIR HDG TO INTERCEPT WHAT THEY BELIEVED TO BE THE ASSIGNED TRANSITION.

Narrative: WHEN WE RECEIVED OUR CLRNC THE REQUIRED READBACK CONSISTED ONLY OF OUR NUMBER AND XPONDER CODE. AFTER DEP THE CTLR GAVE US A FEW HDG CHANGES AND THEN A HDG TO INTERCEPT THE TRANSITION. IF HE CHANGED THE TRANSITION FROM THE PANTHER 3-MERIL TRANSITION (FILED AND CLRED) TO THE PANTHER 3-LILLS TRANSITION, WE DID NOT EITHER HEAR OR COMPREHEND (WE HAD A MINDSET FOR THE PANTHER 3-MERIL). WHEN WE REALIZED THAT WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS THE ASSIGNED HDG WOULD NOT INTERCEPT THE MERIL TRANSITION WE ASSUMED THE HDG HE WANTED WAS 45 DEGS RATHER THAN A 45 DEG INTERCEPT. WE SHOULD HAVE QUESTIONED DEP WHEN WE REALIZED OUR HDG WOULD NOT INTERCEPT THE MERIL TRANSITION.
