Pressure to continue resulted in an over-duty time situation, followed by a letter citing a violation. The delay was a result of extremely poor maintenance which was never resolved.

Title: UNRESOLVABLE MAINT PROBS LED TO A B747 FLC'S DUTY TIME EXCEEDANCE.
Narrative: PRESSURE TO CONTINUE RESULTED IN AN OVER-DUTY TIME SIT, FOLLOWED BY A LETTER CITING A VIOLATION. THE DELAY WAS A RESULT OF EXTREMELY POOR MAINT WHICH WAS NEVER RESOLVED.
