Narrative:

On hooded airways practice flight utilizing coupled autoplt. While establishing on V597 after passing sli, I noticed autoplt was slow in correcting for easterly wind allowing aircraft to drift off airway to west. (Autoplt operations satisfactory prior to this time.) received call from socal approach advising of my divergence. I then made appropriate correction -- estimate I was perhaps 2 mi off centerline. In future, I'll be less tolerant of autoplt.
