Narrative:

Lower cabin door came open just after takeoff, aircraft type PA31-310. A passenger was sitting in seat adjacent to door. Door appeared to close properly and there was no door ajar light in cockpit. Door was secured by copilot and flight continued to destination. Postflt showed worn forward lug. However, door could not be forced open on ground. Possible causes: 1) door improperly closed. 2) air loads caused forward lug to pull through latch mechanism. 3) passenger inadvertently unlocked latching mechanism while securing seat belt. Solution: door ajar light should indicate when door isn't closed properly.
