Narrative:

During cruise flight in turbulent cumulus clouds the aircraft in 2 instances exceeded the assigned ATC altitude. While at 9000 ft I requested 10000 ft, when the aircraft was taken to about 9400 ft. ATC noted the excursion, but assigned 10000 ft. Still in the clouds and turbulence I requested 11000 ft, and an altitude of about 10500 ft was being developed. ATC admonished me for the altitude excursion, but did not approve 11000 ft. Upon handoff to ZID 11000 ft was approved, and no further altitude problems were experienced.
