Narrative:

Captain was making a PA and I was handling the radios and flying the aircraft. ATC gave us a restr to cross 65 mi north of shb at FL240. I entered the restr into the FMS and became distraction by thunderstorms in our area and failed to press execute on the FMS. I was late descending and ATC asked us if we would make the restr. I passed FL260 at 65 mi. ATC informed us there was no traffic conflict. I had been off the airplane for 9 months and had just finished requalification.

Title: DURING A DSCNT IN THE VICINITY OF TSTMS, AN MD88 FLC UNDERSHOT A XING RESTR BY 2000 FT. THE PF WAS DISTR BY THE TSTMS AND RADIOS AND THE PNF WAS MAKING A PA. THE PF HAD PROGRAMMED THE FMS, BUT FAILED TO SELECT ENTER. THE ARTCC RADAR CTLR INTERVENED.

I ENTERED THE RESTR INTO THE FMS AND BECAME DISTR BY TSTMS IN OUR AREA AND FAILED TO PRESS EXECUTE ON THE FMS. I WAS LATE DSNDING AND ATC ASKED US IF WE WOULD MAKE THE RESTR. I PASSED FL260 AT 65 MI. ATC INFORMED US THERE WAS NO TFC CONFLICT. I HAD BEEN OFF THE AIRPLANE FOR 9 MONTHS AND HAD JUST FINISHED REQUALIFICATION.
