Narrative:

While taxiing from the east side of runway 19L/1R, aircraft went into and through a small ditch approximately 6 inch edges on both sides, thus causing a propeller strike. Pilot did not discover strike until shutting down for refuel. ATIS stated that all txwys east of taxiway a were closed. Pilot was unfamiliar with txwys and requested guidance from ground. No response until incident when ground, after contacted by the pilot asking are they sure this way is the way, stated that he may want to go to the south end of the runway and use that taxiway because it's open. Pilot did, and no further problems occurred. Due to the black dirt in the trench and the overcast sky the pilot was unable to see it. The black-top taxiway looked as if it just went up to the concrete as normal. Aircraft was towed from the refueling point back to its hangar on the east side of the closed runway utilizing the southernmost taxiway.

Title: WHILE TAXIING FROM THE E SIDE OF RWY 19L FOR REFUELING THE RPTR REQUESTED TAXI GUIDANCE FROM THE TWR BECAUSE THE ATIS SAID SOME TXWYS WERE CLOSED. BEFORE THE GND GAVE TAXI GUIDANCE THE RPTR TAXIED ON A CLOSED TXWY AND INCURRED A PROP STRIKE.

Narrative: WHILE TAXIING FROM THE E SIDE OF RWY 19L/1R, ACFT WENT INTO AND THROUGH A SMALL DITCH APPROX 6 INCH EDGES ON BOTH SIDES, THUS CAUSING A PROP STRIKE. PLT DID NOT DISCOVER STRIKE UNTIL SHUTTING DOWN FOR REFUEL. ATIS STATED THAT ALL TXWYS E OF TXWY A WERE CLOSED. PLT WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH TXWYS AND REQUESTED GUIDANCE FROM GND. NO RESPONSE UNTIL INCIDENT WHEN GND, AFTER CONTACTED BY THE PLT ASKING ARE THEY SURE THIS WAY IS THE WAY, STATED THAT HE MAY WANT TO GO TO THE S END OF THE RWY AND USE THAT TXWY BECAUSE IT'S OPEN. PLT DID, AND NO FURTHER PROBS OCCURRED. DUE TO THE BLACK DIRT IN THE TRENCH AND THE OVCST SKY THE PLT WAS UNABLE TO SEE IT. THE BLACK-TOP TXWY LOOKED AS IF IT JUST WENT UP TO THE CONCRETE AS NORMAL. ACFT WAS TOWED FROM THE REFUELING POINT BACK TO ITS HANGAR ON THE E SIDE OF THE CLOSED RWY UTILIZING THE SOUTHERNMOST TXWY.
