Narrative:

On a VFR flight from nantucket ack to morristown mmu. While 4 mi northeast of mmu odor of burning electrical was detected in the cabin. Unnecessary electrical was shut down. When this was done smell dissipated. When gear down was selected left main would not indicate down locked. Notified tower, made low approach. Tower advised, gear appeared down. Circled mmu while fire equipment was called. Tower declared emergency. Landed uneventfully.

Title: AFTER ELECTRICAL SMOKE WAS ELIMINATED BY SHUTTING DOWN UNNECESSARY COMPONENTS THE RPTR LOWERED THE GEAR AND THE L GEAR WOULD NOT INDICATE DOWN AND LOCKED. THE RPTR NOTIFIED THE TWR, MADE A FLY-BY AND TWR ADVISED THE GEAR APPEARED DOWN. TWR DECLARED AN EMER AND THE EMER CRASH TRUCKS WERE ACTIVATED. THE LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL.
