Narrative:

While operating a flight out of butte to helena, we experienced an abnormal occurrence. After doing our originating first flight of the day checks, and announcing our departure, we taxied onto runway 33 for takeoff and in doing so became aware of another aircraft taking off from runway 15. We stopped, queried the departing plane, received back a 'sorry about that' response as it flew over the top. When clear, we departed for our destination. Contributing factors to this situation are the uncontrolled nature of the field, simultaneous radio xmissions, and the local topography on the field at butte.
